Time marches on!

Oh my... As of 9/1/10, I will be 51!!! Time marches on... And I am marching on with it.

So what is it that keeps me going? Many will tell you that they have that "one defining moment" in their lives that changes them forever. If I were to try and pick "one defining moment" what would it be? I have many to choose from!

Lets see...
  • The day I went into the Army and became a man... Or at least thats what they told me.
  • The first time I jumped out of a perfectly good airplane... What was I thinking!
  • The day I was promoted to Sergeant and given charge of 10 soldiers... Drop and give me twenty!
  • Perhaps the day I was shot by a Cuban soldier in Grenada... That was coollll!
  • Maybe the day I had to brief dignitaries at a radar site on the DMZ in Korea... The "Show" site!

These are just a handful of meaningful events from my Army days that were important, but there not quite important enough...

  • Perhaps it was the day I met my future wife... Or the day her mom sent the police to find me.
  • Proposing was just words... Until she said yes!
  • Our first home... And our first business to keep us busy.
  • It's Calyn... My wife was scared to death of having a boy.
  • It's a boy... I think she's ready now!
  • Any history of twins... Imagine Tim "the Toolman" Taylor grunting and Lucille Ball crying.

These are really meaningful, but something's still missing...

  • What about Hepatitis C... Lab tests confirm.
  • The biopsy confirms scaring and stage two cirrhosis... I have to inject myself???
  • Your daughter has Prader-Willi Syndrome... and there is no cure.

I have had quite an eventful life, and to pick one moment as a turning point... Would be like saying a cruise ship can be turned on a dime! My life has been leading, pushing, pulling, motivating and inspiring me to arrive at my current destination. And this is just another of many stops along this journey. I am my life's creation and still a work in progress.

I will continue along... taking my vitamins & supplements, eating a healthy diet, learning & getting the most out of Yoga, involving myself in activities with my children and staying up to date on the issues that affect my families health, especially for my daughter who has Prader-Willi Syndrome and for myself, as I battle Hepatitis C.

I will continue on, marching with time into my 60's, 70's and 80's living new adventures and sharing my stories.

Thank You APX Alarm

Out of the vastness of the Internet, a "David" has arisen amongst many Goliath's to do the impossible. This "David" is APX Alarm.

OK... Perhaps I have gone a bit overboard in my excitement, but there is no discounting what this small Company with a big heart has done. And yes, this has nothing to do with improved health, unless you consider the potential for children like my daughter who has Prader-Willi Syndrome. Six charities just walked away with some sizable donations from APX Alarm and two of those were Prader-Willi Syndrome Organizations in Utah & California.

I have been involved with other contests for charities before, that link to Facebook, but none that I have seen has personalized it as much as APX Alarm. They took a simple marketing idea and used it to do what they seem to enjoy most, helping others. And through the ingenuity of there marketing staff, they have kept people engaged, excited, involved and safe. It wouldn't surprise me to find out that the marketing department was sometimes surprised by what was happening and was also inspired with new ideas regularly from the participation.

We must also give recognition to many of the participants & supporters, especially to the CHERUBS organization. It seems to me that through the many comments posted early on by CHERUBS supporters, many people were inspired to post comments in support of their own favorite charities. I started becoming a regular, when it comes to commenting on the APX Wall, after seeing all the CHERUBS comments. It was all of this posting of comments that really made a big difference in the contest. It brought people together.

As a result of this fantastic opportunity, stories were shared, friendships developed and many charities gained much more awareness than that which could be gained from the bigger name giveaways such as those done by the cola and banking companies. We were able to share our cause in a more "in your face" way, with those who were supporting other charities. And although this was all done with a competitive spirit, it was friendly competition and many took the opportunity to learn more about the great organizations represented.

Many may never realize just how big this was. But those who are in the trenches every day realize just how this small company with a big heart is changing lives and creating opportunities for charities to make a difference in the world.

Thank you APX Alarm!!!

I proudly recommend APX ALARM to anyone looking for a company that cares.

A Healthier You Too

I started a new journey a month or so ago. I became a Shaklee Independent Distributor. Sales has always been in my blood, but then again... So has hepatitis C. So why Shaklee? Because I can't sell anything I don't believe in completely and I can't believe in products, or a Company, that has no history to back up their quality. Shaklee has been in the business of helping people for over 50 years and was Green before anyone knew what Green was. They also have research, studies and clinical trials documentation and they continue to test and retest to insure the highest quality products. Let's not forget the money back guarantee.

Since the birth of my daughter who was diagnosed with Prader-Willi Syndrome, my wife and I have learned so much about proper diet and living a healthier lifestyle. I have also done a lot of research on the chemicals & toxins that are in the air we breath, the cleaning supplies we use and the foods we eat. Shaklee is a perfect fit for my family.

So my wife and I have been working to Clean up our act, so to speak, for the sake of all four of our children. I myself have been especially focused over the past nine months on making changes, thanks in part to a wonderful company who has given me more time to spend with my family. Yes, after twenty-three years they let me go.

With the free time I have had, when I wasn't looking for a job, I was making changes at home. After nine months I am happy to report that:

  • My daughter who has had weight issues because of her syndrome, has been able to maintain her current weight for the past six months and her doctor is very happy with her current, much improved, cholesterol levels.
  • My son has fewer headaches than before.
  • My children are eating very little fast food.
  • A chronic cough that I had for years (like a smokers cough, but I don't smoke) is gone.
  • For the first time since being diagnosed with Hepatitus C, many many years ago, my viral levels have gone down without being on a treatment.
  • And my doctor and I are weening me off of Thyroid medicine and so far, so good.
If that isn't a testimony for proper diet and going green, than I don't know what is. I continue to meet and hear stories from people on how making changes to their lives have made a difference. Check out my website www.ahealthieryoutoo.com to find out more about Shaklee or if you have questions, you can find my contact information there.
